"Whether they were better at stepping or not, the story line for the competition is that they never were supposed to be there."

sums it up right there. in fact, this whole commentary summed up my feelings. i hadn't had a chance to express how i felt about this. i had to defend my thoughts and opinions against BLACK folks who thought it was wrong for them to split the prize. i became instantly annoyed. and here you explaining it. thank you for breaking down my thoughts that i could not verbally express in the debates. i know this is an old story, but an ongoing one. and i guess deep down, i'm tired of giving "passes" just like whites are tired of our getting "passes" for things they believe are up for grabs by anyone.

so you're right. the story of the underdog is where the two side meet in the middle. in that context, i am relieved. otherwise, i would just be feeling outraged about their infiltrating what was started by us, rooted in Afrikan culture, and because THEY watched, studied, and practiced (the "bring it on" theory), they gets over. anyone can LEARN the steps, but not everyone can FAKE the soul or the passion or know how to LIVE the experience. and it is based on these ideals that lie at the eye of my irritation tornado...

thank you again for helping me realize what was going on...
